As im sure many of you have read, heard, or seen what just happened in the county of Los Angeles during the elections for a new mayor as well as some new propositions for the city and county of Los Angeles. More specifically I am referring to proposition D which will result in a limit of how many medical marijuana dispensaries will be allowed to stay open for regular operations within the city of Los Angeles.
If you have been following any political movements within the city of Los Angeles you should already know that this is not the first time nor will it be the last time the city as well as the federal government threatens owner/operators of dispensaries to shut their doors or face the consequences of property and assets forfeiture or even worse possible jail time if they continue to operate. I don’t believe I have enough fingers to count how many times I have heard of the “crack down” on dispensaries whether its threats coming from the city or the federal government.
I felt I had an appropriate title for this blog do to the fact that they are closing them “again”. What I mean by this is it seems like every couple months they make an attempt to close the dispensaries down or regulate however nothing significant ever seems to happen. There is never any legitimate form of regulation and therefore it is just resources being waste by the city and federal government. If there was an actual attempt to regulate these businesses then why does it seem like every couple months they need to target dispensaries AGAIN? Do you think this is just a waste of resources and our tax dollars? How would you regulate these medical shops so that they are accessible for patients yet would fall into what the city of county deems legal? Feel free to comment on what you would do to regulate shops.
