It is January 2013 and only a few months after Gov. John Hickenlooper certified the results of the November vote on Amendment 64, that legalized the possession of up to one ounce and the cultivation of up to six pot plants for adults 21 and over, two marijuana clubs have already been established to exercise that very right.
Club 64 of Denver officially opened Monday afternoon the day after the organizers announced the creation of the club and it already had 200 members who paid $29.99 each to join. The club will meet monthly at different locations with the same fee.
Del Norte in southern Colorado, The White Horse Inn officially opened on Monday afternoon, as well. Becoming the first private marijuana club in Colorado opening a few hours earlier than Club 64. Paul Lovato, owner of The White Horse In was already expecting some guests from New Mexico.
