California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom has publicly expressed is support for the legalization of marijuana. Newsom was quoted in The New York Times saying he “believes marijuana prohibition is counterproductive and voiced his support for making marijuana legal.” The Lt. Governor is just one in a growing number of world and U.S. leaders demanding a different approach to the failing war on drugs. Along with Pat Robertson, Former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo, NJ Gov. Chris Christie.
As Lt. Governor Newsom said “It’s time for politicians to come out of the closet on this.” Let us hope many more are inspired to do so.
